Hello!! and welcome to the beginning of something special for me. Let’s get down to business, I found myself wanting to talk about what I was thinking and exchange commentary like a magazine club I guess. Then I realized I can perhaps reach those people who also want to chat about not only Vogue, but,Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar, sometimes Elle, so here we are.

Listen this issue was a moment with Dr. Jill Biden on the front cover, and I just could not keep back my smile because Fall is on its way for sure. I think people absolutely cannot wait and by people I guess I mean me LOL. Also, the amount of artistic appeal in this issue was enlightening, motivating, and fresh. So many exciting colors of knit sweaters and dresses, plus every single jacket Hailey Bieber was wearing just makes me drool.

The Louis Vuitton collaboration with Fornasetti is like a modern Michelangelo remix but make it fashion and I love it. Not to mention I have a new love for that Pochette Tête handbag that probably belongs in a museum.

I will never forget for the rest of my life that ridiculously large handbag from Marni that could also be the holy grail of a notorious over-packer like me. All the accessories were really cool and somehow also convenient especially those Prada gloves with the adorable little pocket on top. The Valentino rain boots are chic and I love the color and chunky platform heel, if I was able to get anything from this magazine it would be those. The green Bottega Veneta belt looks like a corset and it’s weird but I like it, anyone else?

Overall, this Fall is apparently taking on this “pop of color” trend that mixes so nicely with a neutral wardrobe like mine.

Finally, leave it to Vogue to enlighten me on Reishi and Cordyceps (aka mushrooms) and their use in the beauty industry and vegan Birkins, yes I said it and I never thought I would I’m just as surprised as you. This leads to the bigger picture of the fashion industry as a whole and Vogue Runway is where I see more of a shift in collections to sustainable future. I knew that even before 2020 designers including Gabriela Hearst, Gucci, and Dior were running carbon-neutral shows, and reusing old sets. While brands high and low are promoting organic, recycled, and upcycled garments we still buy more which leads to over production. Okay so yes, fashion is far from “sustainable” as it is now, but I mean lets be real and call it overconsumption because that’s what it is. Some companies like Patagonia are investing in regenerative cotton which should earn a couple brownie points, and Burberry actually committed to “climate positivity” by 2040. Climate Neutral is a company I would like to shoutout for encouraging brands to align their goals with the Science Based Targets and requires they report on their progress annually to maintain their certification status of “climate neutral”. I always want to include sustainability in any conversation I have online because I think it’s important because it’s the future. Just because I love all these new collections from luxury brands doesn’t mean I don’t dig deeper to find out where the materials are coming from, and if these brands are doing anything to show they care about climate change.

That’s pretty much it for this August 2021 Vogue issue. Please leave me any comments if you want! :)
